Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026
This policy explains how Vocaby (the iOS and Android app made by Pacifiq) and this website (https://vocaby.co) handle your information. We have tried to keep it in plain language and to describe what the app actually does, not boilerplate.
The short version
- Vocaby does not require an account. There is no sign-up, login, or first-party user profile.
- Your learning data — progress, reviews, bookmarks, custom words, settings, and the name you enter during onboarding — is stored on your device and is not synced to our servers.
- The app contacts our servers only to fetch content: dictionary entries, pronunciation audio, translation packs, and wallpaper backgrounds.
- We use standard analytics (Firebase), crash reporting (Crashlytics), and — only if you allow tracking on iOS — advertising attribution to measure our own ad campaigns.
- Payments are processed by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
- We do not sell your personal information, and the app shows no third-party ads.
Data stored on your device
Everything you create in Vocaby lives locally: your study progress and review history, deck settings, liked and hidden words, custom words, reminders, and your preferences (including onboarding answers such as your level, interests, and the name you choose to enter). This data is not uploaded to our servers and is not synced through iCloud. Deleting the app deletes it.
Requests to our servers
Vocaby fetches content from our server (api.trilliwon.com, hosted on Cloudflare). These
requests are not tied to an account, because there are no accounts. Specifically:
- Dictionary lookups. When you search for a word that isn't in the bundled dictionary, the word and your language settings are sent to our server, which generates the entry (definitions, examples, etymology) using an AI service.
- Pronunciation audio. Word audio is synthesized server-side (using ElevenLabs as the speech provider), so the word text and selected voice are sent to our server when audio is played or downloaded.
- Translation packs and wallpapers. The app downloads translation files and a wallpaper catalog from our content delivery network. These are plain downloads.
- Problem reports. If you report an issue with a word, we receive the word content, your optional message, and basic app/device metadata (app version, platform, OS version, and device model) so we can reproduce and fix the problem.
As with any internet service, our hosting provider processes standard request data such as your IP address to deliver responses and protect against abuse. We do not use these requests to build a profile of you.
Analytics and crash reporting
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand aggregate usage (for example, which features are used and how often) and Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports. Crash reports include technical details such as device model, OS version, app version, and the state of the app when it crashed. This data is associated with device-level identifiers rather than your name or an account, and we use it only to improve the app. You can read how Google handles this data in Firebase's privacy documentation.
Advertising attribution
Vocaby shows no ads. However, we advertise Vocaby on other platforms, and the app includes tools to measure whether those campaigns work:
- On iOS, the app asks for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Only if you allow it, the Meta (Facebook) SDK may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to attribute app installs to our ads. If you decline, the identifier is not available, and attribution falls back to Apple's privacy-preserving mechanisms (AdServices and SKAdNetwork), which do not identify you individually.
- On Android, Google Play services may use the Google Advertising ID for the same install-measurement purpose. You can reset or delete this ID in Android settings.
- RevenueCat (see below) receives anonymized attribution identifiers so we can understand which campaigns lead to subscriptions.
This is used solely to measure our own marketing. We do not sell this data or use it to show you ads.
Purchases and subscriptions
Payments for Vocaby Pro are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their terms — we never receive your payment details, Apple ID, or Google account information. The app uses RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly generated app user ID, purchase receipts, and device-level identifiers; it does not receive your name or contact details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.
Notifications and permissions
- Reminders and study alarms are scheduled locally on your device. Vocaby does not currently use remote push notifications or collect push tokens.
- Photo library access is requested only when you save or share a word card or wallpaper image, and is used only for that action.
- Vocaby does not request access to your microphone, camera, location, or contacts.
Information on this website
This site (https://vocaby.co) is a static marketing and content site. Like most websites, the hosting provider may process standard technical request data (such as IP address and user agent) to serve pages and protect against abuse. If privacy-respecting analytics are enabled, they are used only to understand aggregate, non-identifying traffic patterns. We do not use this site to collect sensitive personal information.
Data retention and your choices
- On-device data is under your control: deleting the app removes it.
- Tracking (iOS): you can change your choice anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Advertising ID (Android): you can reset or delete it in Settings → Google → Ads.
- Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
- Analytics and crash data is retained by our providers for limited periods under their policies. If you would like data associated with your device deleted, contact us and we will make the corresponding deletion requests.
Children's privacy
Vocaby is not directed at children under 13 (or the age where parental consent is required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the app after a change means the updated policy applies.
